Image of the two ladies above is referenced from a photo taken by the late Anns Westra (1936-2023), taken in Cuba Mall in the 1970s. Ans Westra is one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most widely celebrated artists of all time.

With kind permission from Anns Westra herself, the one condition I recall in exchange for the permission to reference her image, is that her and her friend could attend the opening night, and what a night! Level 1 of Anvil House around the early 2000s was quite the social scene it has to be said. Loop magazine were situated next door us, Boy girl boy down were down the hallway, and with numerouse artists and makers dotted through out the building, it was a magic recipe of circumstance for all sorts of artistic experimentation and back gammon, I mainly remember lots of tea breaks and gammon.
